How to find us

Most of our rehearsals and meetings take place in the rehearsal room in the Palais de l’Europe, headquarters of the Council of Europe.

Address: avenue de l’Europe, Strasbourg, France. Bus stop: Palais de l’Europe. Tram stop: Droits de l’Homme, and a short walk around the building. The Council of Europe’s own Web site gives detailed directions and transport information.

If you don’t know where to go

From the bus stop, go up the steps by the flags of the member states towards the main entrance. The visitors’ entrance is on the right of the glass doors.

Those without badges should take the door on the right, pass through the security screening, and present themselves at the reception desk. Assuming you are expected (you did tell us you were coming, didn’t you?), someone from Tagora will meet you and complete the formalities. You will have to show ID, normally a passport or national identity card.

“Floating” badges

If you are a regular attender from outside the Council we shall probably arrange for you to be on the “floating” badge list. Those on this list do not need to be met by a staff member, but will be issued with a temporary badge in exchange for a copy of a passport or other photo ID. They must, however, enter at the PC Ouest entrance in allée Spach. If this instruction concerns you we’ll make sure you know about it.

Finding the rehearsal room

Go through the main entrance of the Palais de l’Europe. The rehearsal room is through the entrance hall, down the stairs near the newspaper shop. Turn left on the staircase, and the rehearsal room is next to the projection room.

Mobile phone signals are very weak in the rehearsal area, so don’t trust your call to get through even if you have a number for someone there. However, if you get lost or stranded outside, there is a telephone in the room. Call 4461 from Council of Europe extensions, or 0390 214461 from outside.

Getting out

You’d think it would be easy, wouldn’t you?

Be warned that the main entrance to the Palais de l’Europe normally closes at 19.00. Anyone leaving the building after that time must find their way to Entrance V, best described in layman’s terms as the exit from the underground carpark opposite D Building, accessible from rue Sforza. Floating badge holders must ensure the badges are returned before they leave.

In addition, since the route lies through non-public areas within the Palais de l’Europe, you need a staff badge to open some of the doors and barriers.

Tagora members will, of course, ensure that visitors are escorted safely off the premises, but anyone being met, or leaving a car or bicycle outside, should bear in mind that the way in isn’t necessarily the way out.
